Third Annual Transfer Awareness Week
On behalf of the Department of University and College Relations (UCR), Division of Academic and Student Affairs, we want to thank all those who participated and supported the events during the 3rd Annual Transfer Awareness Week. Maricopa's commitment to student success was evident.
A special thanks to the Governing Board, Chancellor, Vice Chancellors, and College Presidents -- it is because of your support that we were able to expand these transfer partnerships and provide Maricopa students with diverse and accessible academic opportunities.
We appreciate the number of faculty who attended the Transfer Cafe', and those who met with transfer partners throughout the week. It is through these connections that we build the transfer bridges that will take our students to the baccalaureate and beyond. We know that students who transfer to the universities from the Maricopa Community Colleges are well-prepared academically. Their successful completion of the baccalaureate is an indicator of the quality instruction and preparation provided by Maricopa faculty. More than 70% of students who transfer with Junior status will complete a baccalaureate degree.
We want to thank the Student Services' staff who attended the sessions and met with the transfer partners. You play a critical role in providing the advising and information necessary to plan for a successful transfer. As an institution, we understand the need to create pathways for student success. Pathways include articulation, but also include intentional services to ensure students are successful.
We also want to thank the more than 30 institutions that participated in the week's events. We know that successful transfer is based on quality programs and strong relationships. We appreciate the respect for the Maricopa curriculum as evidenced by the acceptance of our degrees for admission to programs and, in many cases, acceptance as a block. We are grateful for the connections many of you have forged with faculty - developing courses, aligning programs, and creating new and innovative pathways.
The week's events are a reminder of the ongoing commitment to support Maricopa's Transfer Mission. Building bridges for student success is a community wide effort, and we appreciate your dedication toward this mission.
